Winter Time: No People On Popular Beaches

When we lived in Slovakia, which was a landlocked country, going to a beach was exclusively a summer activity, a part of summer vacations. Here in New Zealand we have found out it is actually more pleasant to go to a beach in winter. Even the very popular spots, that are usually crowded in summer, are mostly empty in winter.
